A day after Rajasthan Royals (RR) formally refuted match-fixing accusations by Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) ad hoc committee convener Jaideep Bihani, a BCCI official dismissed the claims, attributing them to political drama ahead of RCA elections. The controversy arose after RR lost a close IPL 2025 match to Lucknow Super Giants, failing to score nine runs in the final over.
The BCCI official stated the RCA is dissolved, and an ad-hoc committee is managing affairs, with elections fueling tensions. The official emphasized the BCCI’s anti-corruption unit actively monitors matches to ensure integrity. RR, in a letter to Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, and the Sports Council, rejected the allegations as “misleading” and damaging to the franchise, BCCI, and cricket’s credibility.
The franchise clarified it collaborates with the Rajasthan Sports Council (RSSC) as per BCCI directives, which granted RSSC hosting rights for Jaipur matches. RR highlighted its 18-year compliance with BCCI and state government guidelines. Reports suggest the RCA’s frustration stems from reduced ticket allocations (1,800 to 1,200 per match) this season, with Bihani leveraging the controversy amid electoral disputes.
RR’s statement stressed their commitment to a smooth IPL season, working under BCCI and state government oversight. The BCCI official reiterated there is “no truth” to the claims, dismissing them as attention-seeking tactics
